“He died for all, that those who live, should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” 2 Corinthians 5:15
We may say that Jesus is our Lord & Savior, but do we mean it? We are thankful He is our Savior. We want salvation, forgiveness, deliverance, & redemption. That is what He can do for us. But what do we do for Him? Romans 12:1 says, “Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Living our lives for the One that gave His is really the least we can do. But do we acknowledge that He is our Lord? Do we say He is Lord, then act as though we’re in charge of our own lives?
Have you ever acted as if you are the authority of your own life in place of God? It is easy to do without even thinking. A decision presents itself & instead of asking God what we should do, we impulsively just do what makes the most sense at the moment. Or we think it through but by using a pros & cons list or some sort of data. Maybe we go straight to a friend & ask them what they think we should do & they remind us of past events & use all they information they know about us & the situation to give us their best advice. But we do not pray, we do not look at the bible, we do not even recall past experiences where God led us similarly. We just use our own human reasoning or that of someone else & act accordingly.
But once we surrender our lives to God, they no longer belong to us. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Consider yourself dead and buried. This new person is under the authority of another. It is no longer our lives, but His. We need to consult him in every situation. That’s what it means for Him to be our Lord. Don’t just say He is Lord. Make Him The Lord of your life today!
“Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord. My goodness is nothing apart from You.” Psalm 16:1-2
