If everything we have is His, then how can we withhold anything from Him? Should we not give back a portion of what He’s so freely given to us?

1 Samuel 16:1-13

God rejected Saul as king and told Samuel to anoint one of Jesse’s sons to be his replacement. The one Samuel thought looked good was not the one God chose and He explained that we may look at the outward appearance of a person, but He looks at the heart.
First we go through the story of God’s selection, then we read a lot of verses about how God knows and cares about our hearts more than anything else and what’s on the inside is what should matter to us too. We need to be focusing on actually being good people instead of just appearing to be.
