We love our children just because they are ours & the Israelites were blessed just because they were His. Our children don’t earn our love by doing good things & they can’t lose our love by doing something wrong. The Israelites also could not earn or lose God’s love & neither can we. Once we become His child, we belong to Him forever.

1 Samuel 5-7

God demonstrates His power over the god of the Philistines.
God also sends a plague on them and they eventually return the ark.
The Israelites receive the ark and worship God.
But when some of the people are irreverent towards the ark and die, they too are afraid of the ark and they send it away.
After 20 years of missing God, the people return to Him wholeheartedly.

After we go over the story we apply it to our lives.
When it looks like God’s power is lacking, it’s only restrained.
