Behold, I send an Angel before you, to keep you in the way & to bring you into the place which I have prepared. Beware of Him and obey His voice.

Exodus 23:20-21

The unknown can be scary. Just as a child may be afraid to enter a dark room alone, we can be afraid to enter where we cannot see. But remember that the future isn’t unknown to our Father. He knows what lies ahead & has already prepared the way. Not only that, but He walks with us to guide & protect. His children have no reason to fear, since their Father enters with them. What is unknown to us, is fully known to Him.

As Christians today we have something far better than the Israelites because we have the Holy Spirit. He is the One that guides us into that future that He has prepared for us. Even Jesus couldn’t be with all the people, all the time or speak to each so personally. When He knew that His death would come soon, He comforted His disciples with these words:

I will pray the Father & He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He dwells with you & will be in you. I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you.

John 14:16-18

These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name. He will teach you all things, & bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:25-27

We could not ask for a more perfect, powerful, or complete Presence of God than the One found in the Holy Spirit! He helps us. He tells us the Truth. He teaches us all things & reminds us of all that we already know. He gives us peace that the world cannot give. We have no need to look to the people or things of this world for answers, because His provision is complete. He knows what our future holds & He is able to bring about the plans that He has for us.

Even knowing that, it is to wait! We want the fulfillment to come quickly & easily. The process is long & hard. He is Ruler of all of Heaven & Earth after-all. He spoke all things into existence in just 6 days. Why must His plan take so much time? Why does He choose to use the process when He can change our circumstances in an instant with His Powerful outstretched arm or the sound of His voice?

Well, sometimes He does use His Mighty Power to change our lives in an instant. He is not bound by the things of this earth, so when He chooses the process, we must trust that He has a reason. Just as He did for the Israelites, little by little, He will destroy what hinders until we have increased & gained possession of His great plan for us. Just as it was with them, our job is just to trust & obey. He will be with us.

Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid. He can defeat & bring victory; bless & protect. Our God is sufficient for us. But we cannot allow ourselves to be compromised by this world or led astray by it. We cannot look to the things of this world for answers or deliverance. Instead, we must wait on the Lord, keep His way, & hope in Him. He loves His children & He’s able to bring about His plans for us.
