Lord, why have You brought trouble on this people? Why is it You have sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done evil to this people and you have You delivered Your people at all. Exodus 5:22-23

Can you relate to Moses? I know I can. Sometimes it feels like God is asking us to do something, but we begin to question when our first attempt fails or it seems like we only made things worse. We tend to think it should all be easy & happen quickly, especially if we are doing what God wants us to. It is easy to get discouraged & wonder where God is. As people, most of the time we just can’t understand His plan. Then again, sometimes we do understand & we believe He will fulfill His purpose in the end, but it’s just too hard & the process is too long. We aren’t sure it is worth all the bad in order to reach the good. That’s usually where I fall. Sometimes the present pain & difficulty just seems like too much. Making it through to the other side is the last thing on my mind. I just want it to stop.

But when we feel like this, we have to remember the truth in God’s Word. We have to remind ourselves of who He is & who we are in Him. If God sent us to do something, then He will fulfill His purpose. His time is not our time & His ways are not our ways. So, just because it doesn’t happen quickly, does not mean that it won’t ever happen. It only means there’s a process. If we rely on Him for guidance & strength, we can make it through. He will help us. Then once we have made it to the other side, we often see His plan more clearly. But even if we do not, I have found, that the reward for persevering is worth it. I am glad that it all didn’t just stop. Then I would have nothing to show for the pain. It would be all I remembered, with no good on the other side. No matter what happens on this earth though, we always have the assurance that our present pain is no comparison to the reward that we will one day receive in heaven.

So don’t be discouraged. Just keep asking Him what He wants you to do & taking the next step. We know that He is able to give the best gifts to His children! So hang in there. I think you will be glad you did.
