Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.” And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words.”

Exodus 24:7-8

Upon hearing the word of God, the people agreed to obey Him. Whomever we obey is our master/boss/authority/lord. So, the Israelites publicly professed Him as their Lord. By doing this, they accepted the sacrifices made on their behalf & Moses sprinkled them with the blood.

Today we don’t make animal sacrifices because Jesus made the sacrifice for us all. But the process of reconciliation is the same. When we hear the Word of God & vow to make Him the Lord of our lives, accepting His sacrifice on behalf of our sin, then we’re covered in His blood.

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:9-10

This covering means that when God looks at us, He sees the sacrifice made for us & the righteousness of Jesus instead of the sin that separates us.

But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness. Just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.

Romans 4:5-8

After this covenant was made, several of the elders shared a meal with the Lord. Amazingly, they didn’t feel the wrath of an Almighty God who was encountering sinful men. That is because they had just entered into a relationship that allowed fellowship with Him. Peace had been made between Him & His people.

We too, no longer have to stay afar off, fearful to approach the Holy God. When we make Him the Lord of our lives & accept the sacrifice of His Son, we can draw near to Him in fellowship. There is peace between us as we enter into our own covenant relationship with Him.

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:9

So, make Him Lord of your life. Accept the sacrifice that He made for your sins. Be covered in His blood so that when God looks at you, He sees Jesus’s righteousness & not the sin that separates you. Then fellowship with Him. Walk in His ways. Enjoy a relationship with Him.
